JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 17, 2019 – The Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site, in conjunction with the Monroe County Historical Society, will host the 2019 Salt River Quilt and Craft Show Oct. 5 and 6. The event will be held inside the Mark Twain Memorial Shrine in Florida, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6. Visitors will wind their way through the approximately 100 quilts in the museum's two galleries.

This year’s quilt show theme is "It’s Fall, Y’all" and will feature autumn-themed quilts. Other quilt categories will include antique or reproduction quilts of the 1930’s (depression era), wildflower quilts, miscellaneous quilts and quilts made by people 18 years and younger.  Any size quilt will be accepted in all categories. The quilts will be judged in each category and ribbons and prizes awarded.

The concurrent craft show will be held in Mark Twain State Park’s Buzzards Roost Picnic Area a mile south of the Shrine. There, food, craft and quilt-related vendors will be set up inside Huckleberry Hall during the same days and hours as the quilt show. If visitors choose, they can enjoy their lunch under the trees on the lovely park grounds outside the hall. Attend both the quilt and craft show for a chance to win a prize.

Admission to the quilt show and presentations is free, but donations will be accepted. For more information, quilt entry forms and vendor applications, call Marianne at 573-565-3449.
