JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 24, 2019 – The Missouri State Museum will present the program "Just Around the Pointe of Courage and Determination" as part of its ongoing "Landing After Hours" series starting  Jan. 8. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the program will move from the Missouri State Museum in the Capitol to Jefferson Landing State Historic Site.

Traci Martin, an accomplished Missouri kayaker, who as a solo female twice won the grueling MR340 race from Kansas City to St. Charles, will speak about her world record attempt at paddling all five Great Lakes in a single year. In 2017, Traci became the first individual to circumnavigate three Great Lakes (Michigan, Superior and Huron) in a single year. She has rheumatoid arthritis and used her journey to advocate for those with chronic illnesses. You can also see "Bettina," her expedition kayak!

The Missouri State Museum’s "Landing After Hours" events are held the first Wednesday of each month. Programs are held in the Lohman Building at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site. Doors to the historic site will open at 6 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m. Come early to explore the historic site (track-side doors) before the program. The program will be held in the first floor classroom, easily accessed from the south entrance door. Convenient parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building.
