The public is invited to spend the day outdoors and help one of Missouri's most scenic state parks at the annual "Keep Baker Beautiful Day" on Saturday, April 25 at Sam A. Baker State Park near Patterson. Sponsored by the Missouri State Parks, the 23rd annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event recognizes both Earth Day and Missouri Beautification Month by getting the park in shape for the upcoming visitation season. Participants should meet at the park's visitor center at 8:30 a.m. to meet other volunteers and get project assignments. Planting, trail care and litter patrol are just a few of the projects planned for the day. After the work, volunteers will receive a free picnic lunch and a commemorative keepsake.

Participants should bring a pair of work gloves and drinking water and wear closed-toed shoes. Call the park office at 573-856-4411 by April 23 to register. In case of severe or inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.
