Katy Trail State Park hosts autumn Bush Honeysuckle Hack for Habitat Nov. 2
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 18, 2019 – Join park staff and volunteers on the Katy Trail at the Marthasville Trailhead from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 to help remove invasive bush honeysuckle. Invasive bush honeysuckle degrades neighborhoods, backyards, trails, woodlands, fields and stream banks into impenetrable thickets. Your help is needed to eliminate this invasive plant from Katy Trail habitat.
Work groups will be assigned hack areas from the Marthasville Trailhead. Wear comfortable high-topped shoes, durable long-sleeved shirts and pants and bring water. Hand tools, gloves, and insect repellent will be provided at the trailhead. The event is being sponsored by Missouri State Parks and Magnificent Missouri (Katy Land Trust).
The Katy Trail State Park Marthasville Trailhead is located north of Highway 94 near the Marthasville Post Office and Chamber of Commerce Depot at mile marker 77.7. For about the event, call 573-464-3476.
