Jefferson Landing State Historic Site will celebrate its 40th anniversary with an event at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25, on the lawn of the Lohman Building in Jefferson City.
Jefferson Landing State Historic Site was saved from demolition by a group of local historians led by Elizabeth Rozier. The American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of Missouri adopted the restoration of the site as its official project, and in July 1976 the site opened its doors to the public.
To celebrate the anniversary, Jefferson Landing will host an afternoon of fun and games on the lawn of the Lohman Building. This family-fun event will include hands-on crafts, historical games, and special demonstrations. During the celebration, the Lohman Building and Union Hotel will be open for free tours. The special event will conclude with a concert on the lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring picnics and lawn chairs to the event.
