JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 31, 2018 – The public is invited to experience and learn about Victorian mourning practices at the Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3. The formal parlors with curtains drawn and black fabric covering mirrors will be astonishing to see. Post-mortem photographs will be on display along with clothing of the time worn while in mourning. The house will remain in mourning throughout November during normal tour hours, and regular tour rates will apply.
