Guests can explore all the prairie has to offer during the guided bison hike and wildflower walk at Prairie State Park. The hikes will start at 10 a.m. beginning on June 4 with the guided bison hike. The following Saturday, June 11 the park will be hosting the wildflower walk. Both events will start at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.

During summer, the prairie is ablaze with color and the bison are busy with their new calves. The hikes will provide guests the opportunity to see the new baby calves and learn about the natural beauties of the prairie. Hikers should be prepared for a two mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars and a camera are useful for viewing the bison and capturing the images of the day.
