JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 7, 2019 – Calling all history buffs, philanthropists, locals and visitors. From June 13 to June 15, the Missouri State Museum will be hosting a food drive benefiting the HALO Foundation.
Gather your nonperishable food items to drop off in the Rozier Gallery and then explore the exhibit "Join, Save, Buy: U.S. World War I Posters on the Home Front." Food Shortages were widespread in Europe during WWI and the United States helped by conserving food and sending all it could overseas.
Through this food drive, the exhibit "Join, Save or Buy," plans to commemorate that food conservation effort by helping a local community organization, the HALO Foundation. HALO provides housing, healing and education to at-risk and homeless children in the Jefferson City area.
The traveling exhibit, done in collaboration with Truman State University, features 50 different United States propaganda posters collected in Missouri during and immediately following World War I.
The food drive will be open June 13 and June 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 15, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the drive will be held on in the Rozier Gallery, Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, 100 Jefferson St., Jefferson City.
