JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 10, 2018 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host a public meeting on the permitting process for municipal solid waste landfills. The session will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, in the Wright County Courthouse, Court Square, Hartville. Representatives from the department and WCA Waste Corporation will be present to answer questions.
WCA Waste Corporation has obtained preliminary site investigation approval to begin a geologic investigation to construct a municipal solid waste landfill in Wright County. The proposed site is located at 5054 State Highway HH, approximately 2.7 miles southeast of the town of Hartville. A detailed site investigation work plan is being prepared.
The department reviews all applications to ensure municipal solid waste landfills are properly designed and constructed. Technical factors that protect Missouri's environment are also examined. This public session will explain the application review process and the approximate timeline for ruling on the permit application.
