The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded Sunrise Beach grant and loan funding totaling $2.5 million to construct a new wastewater treatment facility and sewer collection system.
The department awarded the city a $1.9 million grant and a $629,000 low-interest loan to construct a low pressure pipe collection system using grinder pumps and a new extended aeration mechanical plant wastewater treatment facility. The goal of the new collection and treatment system is to eliminate failing septic tanks, protecting water quality and public health.
The department’s Water Protection Program will administer the loan funds and is committed to working closely communities to assist with funding efforts that support clean water infrastructure improvement projects and provide a financial savings. More information on the loan program is available online through the department’s Water Protection Financial Assistance Center.
