Release Date

The public is invited to learn about the birds of the Current River near Eminence on Saturday, Aug. 8 beginning at 1 p.m. at Current River State Park. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will feature live birds, informational programs about birds and the release of two injured raptors, rehabilitated at the World Bird Sanctuary.

The daytime program begins will take place from 1-5 p.m. and will include live birds along with bird-related games and crafts. The programs will include presenters from Missouri State Parks, Missouri Department of Conservation, National Park Service, World Bird Sanctuary and the Bonebrake Center in Salem. The evening program begins at 7 p.m. and will include a campfire program, sing along and the release of the two raptors. The programs are free to the public.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and lawn chairs or blankets to sit on during the evening program.

Current River State Park is located approximately 15 miles north of Eminence, Mo. on Hwy 19 or 27 miles south of Salem.
