JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT 12, 2019 – Visit Cuivre River State Park at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 for a free Moth Night program. Meet in the park amphitheater for a celebration of nature’s nocturnal pollinators! Moths are like butterflies of the night, and their variety and colors will amaze you. Join nature enthusiasts and photographers, Chrissy McClarren and Andrew Reago, as they present an informative program on moths. Following their short program, black lights and ultra-bright mercury vapor lights will be used to attract moths and other nocturnal insects such as water beetles, treehoppers, longhorned beetles, and even butterflies. Bring flashlights, cameras and a keen eye.
Moths and insects will be counted and added to the official park record as part of a statewide effort to record species in Missouri State Parks. We typically find a new species for the park each time a survey is conducted. Will you be the first to discover a species we have not yet recorded?
