JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 17, 2019 – Join the staff at Crowder State Park on May 25 for activities throughout the day to celebrate the National Park Trust’s Kids to Parks Day!
The fun begins at 10 a.m., with Explorer Hour. Meet at the campground amphitheater to explore a short section of a trail. Participants are encouraged to bring water, wear comfortable hiking shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. Wear your choice of insect repellent to avoid tick and insect bites when spending time outdoors.
The public is invited to share comments about the state parks and their operations during an informational meeting at 2 p.m. in the campground amphitheater. Park staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create two-way communication with the public. The meetings give staff the opportunity to let people know the current status and future plans for the parks and historic sites and offer visitors the opportunity to comment on their facilities.
At 3 p.m, head to the campground amphitheater to learn how to cook delicious food over a campfire in a traditional iron pot called a Dutch Oven. Participants will learn the basics of campfire cooking with a Dutch oven and take home a few new recipes.
Nature Bingo will begin 8 p.m. at the campground amphitheater. Learn about nature in Missouri while you play a competitive game of bingo with your camping neighbors. Prizes will be awarded to the winners!
