Children are invited to three days of fun at the Cave Conservation Corps Day Camp. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12-14 at Onondaga Cave State Park near Leasburg.
Children ages nine to 14 will get to spend three days with park naturalists learning about caves, cave geology, cave ecosystems, cave biology, the cave food chain and cave preservation. Activities will take place above and below ground and participants in the day camp will get an opportunity to help restore a portion of the cave by participating in a cave restoration project. They will also have a wild caving experience hosted by trained professional cavers.
Parents are welcome to stay for the day camp but they are not required to attend with their children.
Registration is required and small fee associated with the day camp will be issued to cover the cost of educational materials supplied by the Onondaga Friends Association. Attendance to the day camp will be limited to 20 participants.
