JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 24, 2018 – Visitors to Big Oak Tree State Park can step back in time during Living History Day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the park located near East Prairie. The event is free and open to the public.
Demonstrations of many different traditional skills and crafts will be given throughout the day, including bow making, basket weaving, flint knapping and more. The Southeast Explorer Mobile Learning Center will feature exhibits, including uniforms and equipment from World War I. Guests can bring a lawn chair and enjoy the sounds of bluegrass music by the Whitewater Bluegrass Band. Barbequed food and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
