Bennett Spring State Park hosts trash cleanup along the Spring Branch Feb. 29

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, FEB. 20, 2020 – Bennett Spring State Park invites you to join Stream Team #5462 for a trash cleanup along the Spring Branch at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29, in preparation of opening day of trout season.

Following an introduction by park staff at Shelter B, participants will clean along the banks of the Spring Branch from the spring head to the Niangua River. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. The cleanup will conclude with a hot dog luncheon!

Displays on water monitoring, macroinvertebrates, flies for fishing and other nature-related items will be available from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Hot dogs and chips will be provided beginning at 11 a.m. Participants should bring their own drinks.

All activities are outdoors. Participants should dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes. While participants will not be entering the water, conditions may be muddy, rocky or slippery.
