JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JAN. 27, 2020 – Bennett Spring State Park and the Lebanon Sunbonnet Garden Club held a joint art contest for the community,  that promoted children taking an active role in caring for the land through recycling, reusing, reducing waste and not littering. The contest had its kickoff at Bennett Spring State Park with a live owl program presented by the World Bird Sanctuary on Oct. 19, 2019. 

Art contest winners include: first-grader Noah Haydon, second-grader Morgan Wieman, third-grader Mealla Kelly and fifth-grader Maddy Kahle. There were no fourth-grade entries.

Posters were submitted by children in grades first through fifth, and each child received a participation certificate. The winners of the contest received a $10 gift certificate and their artwork was submitted to the National Garden Club State Chairman for a chance to represent Missouri. Each state will submit artwork for consideration to be used in an official USDA Forest Service promotion this year. This is an annual joint partnership activity held in conjunction with Bennett Spring State Park.
