JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 29, 2019 – To kick off the City of Lexington Community Fair, the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site will host a View of the Stars program and stargazing event beginning at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10. Meet in the visitors center for a program from the Astronomical Society of Kansas City. Following the program participants will move out to the Battlefield where the Society will have telescopes set out to stargaze and view objects in the night sky. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescopes and encouraged to wear insect repellent. This is a great opportunity to talk with experts, ask questions and enjoy an out-of-this-world experience.
