JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 30, 2019 – Representatives from Missouri State Parks invite the public to an informational meeting about Battle of Athens State Historic Site and Iliniwek Village State Historic Site at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Battle of Athens State Historic Site shelter house. Historic site tours will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives from both Battle of Athens State Historic Site and Iliniwek Village State Historic Site will be on hand to provide information about each site and to answer questions. The public is invited to share comments and ask questions about the sites and their operations.
Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create two-way communication with the public. The meetings give staff the opportunity to let people know the current status and future plans for the parks and historic sites, and they offer visitors the opportunity to comment on the facilities.
Battle of Athens State Historic Site is located 10 miles north of Kahoka, on Highway 81, then 4 miles East on Highway CC. Iliniwek Village State Historic Site is located 4 miles North of Wayland, on MO-27N, then 1 mile East on County Road 200, then 1/2 mile north on County Road 188.
