JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 18, 2019 – Meet at the small shelter house at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3 for a birding event held in collaboration with the Missouri River Bird Observatory. During this free program, Paige Witek, education coordinator for the observatory, will teach participants how to properly use binoculars to identify common birds.
After the presentation, Witek will lead participants on a hike to the boardwalk so participants can put newly learned birding knowledge and skills into practice. Participants with all levels of birding knowledge are welcome. Trail terrain is fairly smooth and flat.
Remember to dress appropriately with comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring insect repellent.
