Release Date

Guests are invited to the 2nd annual Pinewood Boat Derby at Mark Twain State Park near Stoutsville. This friendly competition will begin at 9 a.m. July 23 at Lake Tom Sawyer located near Mark Twain State Park office.

Visitors at this event can enjoy a friendly competition racing toy boats while learning about the power of wind and the history of boating. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will also be present, showing demonstrations on boating safety and how to be prepared on the water.

There are only 60 boats available for the day and each child at the event will receive a free boat to take home. Pre-registration is recommended.

Lake Tom Sawyer is located near the Mark Twain State Park office, east off Highway 107, three miles north of Highway 154 and seven miles south of Highway 24.For more information about the event and to register, call 573-565-3440. Missouri State Parks is supported by the one-tenth of one-percent Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax, which accounts for approximately 75 percent of the budget to repair, improve and maintain state parks and historic sites.
