JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 12, 2017 – The impact of World War I on St. Charles County will be the subject of a lecture July 20 at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site in St. Charles. The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. and be given by Robert Brown, a historic site interpreter and editor of the St. Charles County Historical Society’s quarterly journal.
The United States entered WWI 100 years ago in April. St. Charles County did its part by sending sons and daughters to serve in France as well as supporting the war effort at home. The war also had an impact on the county because it still identified heavily with its German heritage.
The lecture is part of the Friends of the First Missouri State Capitol speaker series. A $10 donation is suggested.
