Release Date

The public is invited to the opening of "The World of Art by Smith," an exhibition at Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center located at 3700 Blue Parkway in Kansas City. 

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. Local painter and ceramicist artist Joseph Smith will be available from 7 to 7:30 p.m. to answer questions from the public about his exhibit.

Between March 21 and June 10, nearly 40 watercolor paintings and 25 pieces of pottery will be on display.  Smith’s work covers a variety of themes, which range from Kansas City jazz to African rituals. The World of Art is a free exhibition, open to the public, and appropriate for all ages.

Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, which is operated and funded in partnership with Missouri State Parks and the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department, is located at 3700 Blue Parkway in Kansas City.  For more information about the event or to RSVP, call 816- 372-8723.
