JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 18, 2018 – The public is invited to learn about the importance of pottery to the ancient people who once inhabited Missouri during its Pottery of the Past educational event 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the park’s small shelter house.
Pottery has been an important tool for many different cultures throughout history. The Missouria Indians used pottery for food storage, water transport, ceremonial purposes and more. During the free event, participants will learn about the history and processes of making Native American pottery, and everyone will have the opportunity to create his own piece of pottery.
