JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 22, 2018 – Celebrate National Trails Day Saturday, June 2, by exploring the Mudlick Trail at Sam A. Baker State Park, one of the oldest trails in Missouri’s state parks system. Event registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with van tours of Mudlick Trail running periodically from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Mudlick Trail is a legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps and has been enjoyed by hikers for more than 80 years.
All activities will start at the park’s visitor center and include guided van rides to the Mudlick Mountain Fire Tower, hikes on Mudlick Mountain, a letterboxing and geocaching challenges. The trail is rugged and steep in some places, so participants are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of snacks and water. Anyone taking part in the geocaching challenge should bring his or her own GPS unit or equivalent device.
