JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 28, 2018 – Van Meter State Park will host a special program that explores the different roles Native Americans played during the Revolutionary War and the role of Native Americans in this historical event. The program is set for 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at Missouri’s American Indian Cultural Center inside the park. This event is free and open to the public
Native Americans, like the colonists, had to choose one side or another or attempt to remain neutral throughout the war. The Revolution became even more complicated for the Native Americans because it signified further expansion and encroachment by settlers onto their native lands. The one-hour program will delve into the complex but fascinating topic.
