A special Victorian tea and tour of the Anderson House will be offered June 13 at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site in Lexington.
The site’s Anderson House was used as a hospital during the three-day Battle of Lexington in 1861. The event, sponsored by Missouri State Parks, will include a tour of the Anderson House and the museum, which includes exhibits and Civil War-era artifacts.
After lunch, a Victorian tea and dessert will be served. Lisa McIntyre will present a short program on her traveling button museum. Materials highlighted in the collection include pearl, celluloid, art deco, uniform, enamels, picture buttons, West German glass and wood.
Participants should bring a lunch to enjoy outside. Coolers with ice will be provided for visitor’s use. Guests should dress appropriately for activities and the weather.
This special program is offered through Missouri State Parks’ Kansas City Area Office, which will provide bus transportation to the site from the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center in Kansas City, Mo. The bus will depart from the center to the site at 10 a.m., returning at 4 p.m. Registration is required and limited space is available.
