JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 18, 2018 – The Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site invites the public to the site’s annual Memorial Day remembrance event 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, May 28. The placing of the memorial wreath at the statue of Gen. Pershing and Wall of Honor is a long-standing community tradition.
This year’s event will feature U.S. Army Master Sargent (Ret.) Mike Brown, who served as administrator of the historic site for more than 12 years. He will deliver brief comments about Memorial Day and read from Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s thoughts on remembering old soldiers.
The memorial wreath will be placed by Brown and current historic site administrator Denzil Heaney. Military honors and a rifle salute will be rendered by Brookfield VFW Post #4557 and American Legion Post #182.
