Visitors are invited to the Great Balls of Fire-Perseid Meteor Shower event at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. This event will start at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the amphitheater of Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park located in Middlebrook.

Guests will take part in a virtual journey to learn about the annual Perseid Meteor Shower.  This event will discuss what meteor showers are and what causes them to occur. The program will last approximately one hour.

Johnson’s Shut-In’s State Park is located at 148 Taum Sauk Trail at Middlebrook, about 15 miles south of Ironton on Hwy. N.  For more information about the event, call 573-546-2450. Missouri State Parks is supported by the one-tenth of one-percent Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax, which accounts for approximately 75 percent of the budget to repair, improve and maintain state parks and historic sites.
