Missouri will celebrate its 195th birthday with an event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site in St. Charles.
Missouri became the 24th state on Aug. 10, 1821. To celebrate its birthday, guests are invited to the First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site for demonstrations, interpretations and tours of the site.
There will be a variety of activities during this birthday celebration. Interpreters will be in period dress and the state historic site will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Peck Brothers Dry Goods & Hardware store and residence will be available during the open house. The site will host story -teller Alive Reese from
1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The public will also be able to view the buildings where the first senators and representatives met to discuss the business of operating as a new state.
Kids are invited to come learn about Missouri’s state symbols and play games from the 1800s. Cake and punch will be available.
