JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 30, 2021 – Staff members at Missouri State Museum invite the public to attend their virtual program about contemporary artist and educator Nick Cave at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 on the Missouri State Museum Facebook page: facebook.com/MissouriStateMuseum. Dr. Sarah S. Jones, art historian at the Missouri State Museum, will present an overview of Cave's biography and career as part of the Landing After Hours series.

Cave was born in Fulton and grew up in Columbia, Missouri. He is primarily known for his soundsuits, wearable sculptures meant to obscure the race, gender, class and physical characteristics of the wearer. Materials used to create the suits make noise as the wearer moves, adding a performative element to Cave's designs. Cave also uses his art to promote social change in his community and the world.

The Missouri State Museum, which is part of the Missouri State Parks system, is located on the first floor of the Missouri Capitol. For more information about the event, call the museum at 573-751-2854.
