JEFFERSON CITY, MO, FEB. 27, 2018 – The Missouri State Museum invites the public to an opening reception for a new exhibit titled "Sketches of War: Editorial Cartoons Representing WWI by Daniel Fitzpatrick." Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the reception is 6 to 8 p.m. on March 14 in the Rozier Gallery, Jefferson Landing State Historic Site in Jefferson City. The event is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Dr. Joan Stack, curator of art collections at the State Historical Society, curated the exhibit with Jamie Henry, assistant director of the Missouri State Museum. They will be available during the reception to answer questions and discuss the exhibit.

The exhibit, a collaborative effort with the State Historical Society of Missouri, will be open from March 6 to May 19 and can be viewed Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Daniel Robert Fitzpatrick, editorial cartoonist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from 1913-1958, created cartoons covering local and world events during his 45-year tenure with the paper. The exhibit of Fitzpatrick's work will focus on cartoons published during and immediately after the Great War.
