JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JAN. 24, 2018 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting Tuesday, Feb. 6, to share information about the Meramec River Basin ecosystem restoration feasibility study. The meeting is 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Hillsboro Community Civic Club, 10349 Highway 21, Hillsboro.
Agency representatives will also discuss potential projects to address stream bank erosion issues and lead along Big River in Jefferson County. Any projects would be voluntary and at no cost to the landowner. Department and Corps representatives will discuss:
Purpose of the study on Big River in Jefferson County
Status and timeline of the feasibility study
Potential conservation practices and alternative sources for project funding
Public participation is an important part of the process. Input from the public on future projects is encouraged and will be accepted during the meeting as well as through comment cards available to those who attend.
