JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 21, 2018 – Katy Trail State Park invites the public to help celebrate National Trails Day on the park’s Rock Island Spur 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2. Organized by the American Hiking Society, the event will include a 1.5-mile hike that will allow participants to enjoy a partial section of the Rock Island Spur in Windsor as they learn about the trail's creation, as well as the Rock Island Railroad’s history and operations. Participants will also have opportunities to see wildlife and to ask questions during the hike.

The hike will begin at the Windsor Katy Trail State Park and Rock Island Spur trailhead. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather, including sturdy shoes or boots and bring their own water water. Insect repellent is also recommended. Pets are welcome at this event, but owners should have them on a leash.
