JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 3, 2019 – Harry S Truman State Park welcomes Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe to the park July 11, where he and his crew will serve a wake-up breakfast of pancakes, sausage and juice to visitors. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 9 a.m. at campsite 63 in the Buck Ridge Campground.
Visitors participating in Lt. Gov. Kehoe’s Passport Challenge can get an exclusive stamp for their passport from the lieutenant governor himself. Lt. Gov. Kehoe has challenged Missourians to see if they can visit more state parks and historic sites than he can. The challenge features 41 state parks and historic sites with unique stamps visitors can get imprinted on their challenge passport. Everyone who completes the challenge and submits their completed passport to the Lieutenant Governor will receive a t-shirt and be entered to win prizes.
After breakfast park rangers will offer a guided paddle on Truman Lake at 10 a.m. This event will begin at the campers’ boat launch at the end of Thorney Ridge Campground. You may bring your kayak and equipment, or the park has a limited number of kayaks, paddles and life jackets. To reserve, please call Justin Adams at 417-276-4259. Kayaking experience is recommended.
