JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 1, 2017 – Summer is almost here and the bison are busy with their new calves so now is a good time to see them on a guided bison hike June 3 at Prairie State Park in Barton County. Visitors should meet at 10 a.m. at the park’s Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.
Visitors should be prepared for a 2-mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, insect repellent, a hat and sunscreen is recommended. Hikers should wear sturdy shoes and bring a camera and binoculars, which will be useful in looking at the bison as well as other wildlife.
