JEFFERSON CITY, MO, FEB. 6, 2018 – Echo Bluff State Park will host the year’s first Dark Night Sky event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. Participants will gather at the park’s "sky porch" – the parking lot at the Bluff Top Pavilion – for a spectacular view of the sky. This is a free event open to the public.
Telescopes will be set up to view different stars and planets. Binoculars will also be available, and participants are welcome to bring their own viewing equipment. Members of the Dent County Astronomers group will be on hand to point out different constellations and other interesting star clusters, provide information on what makes the area’s dark skies so special and ways people can help protect them.
Participants are encouraged to dress in layers for cold weather. For more information, or for cancellations due to the weather, contact Connie Weber at 573-751-1224.
