JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 16, 2023 – Anyone who likes to have fun while they learn should visit the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ displays at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Now through Aug. 20, stop by the Womans Building where department team members will talk you through an assortment of fun, educational displays and exhibits located both inside and outside the building.

Visitors can generate light by taking a spin on the energy bike and learn how incandescent, fluorescent and LED light bulbs require different amounts of energy. Or, visit the interactive sandbox where you can move the sand to create mountains, rivers and lakes, illustrated by a topographic map projected onto the sand. Then, learn how to virtually make it rain over the landscape to see how water flows through watersheds.

Visitors can also learn about Missouri’s fascinating geology, see work of recent Missouri DNR Photo Contest winners and learn how the department passes on most of its annual funding to help different parts of the state.

On your way out, don’t hesitate to grab a cup made from recycled aluminum, along with pencils, fans and packets of Missouri native wildflower seeds that will attract pollinators.
