JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 2, 2017 – The Missouri State Museum will present the program "Animals of the Great War" on Wednesday, June 7 at part of its ongoing "Museum after Hours" series. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the program will begin at 7 p.m. in the History Hall in the east wing of the State Capitol.

The program will explore the animal heroes, solders and companions of World War I. It will discuss the impact animals had on combat and more and why Missouri mules were in such high demand during the war.

The Missouri State Museum hosts "Museum after Hours" events the first Wednesday of every month. During this series, guests can take part in the special programs offered and have the opportunity to view the museum’s exhibits. The galleries are open from 5 to 9 p.m. on event nights. Evening guests should enter through the carriage entrance on the south side of the building under the grand staircase.
