JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 16, 2018 – Celebrating Women's History Month, Van Meter State Park will focus a history presentation about the special stories of two American Indian women from Missourion, March 24. Starting at 1 p.m., the free presentation will feature a woman from the Missouria tribe called Francois of the Missouria, and a woman called Sacred Sun, a member of the Osage tribe.
Separated by more than 100 years, two women from the early history of what is now central Missouri each went on similar adventures while traveling half way around the world. While the circumstances for their journeys were different, and each had different outcomes, both women showed courage in an unknown land and culture. Learn more about the lives and experiences of these fascinating women from Missouri’s history during the March 24 presentation at the park.
