This permit authorizes the discharge of process wastewater and return water associated with dredging operations and associated stormwater discharging to the Missouri and Mississippi rivers or tributaries. The permit places effluent limits on any process wastewater flowing from dredged sediment. Facilities are authorized to discharge stormwater to tributaries of the Missouri or Mississippi rivers, with adequate site controls to restrict sediment from entering the receiving stream.
This permit does not cover land disturbance activities or construction of earthen basins. Facilities that discharge all runoff, stormwater and process wastewater directly to a combined sewer system are exempt from permit requirements. See the master general permit to learn more about additional exemptions and limitations not covered by this permit.
