Eager students at the Rehabbers' Club window clinic

Here's a window rehab clinic arranged by members of the Rehabber's Club in St. Louis. The photo on the right shows the knotted end of the sash cord being fitted into the existing slot in the window's bottom sash. The other end of the cord runs through a pulley set high in the window jamb and down through the sash weight pocket where it's tied to a weight equal to half the sash's weight. Another weight/pulley/cord ensemble on the other side completes the package. The stripping and painting's already been done, so once the weight pocket covers and stops are back in place the window will be good as new!   For step-by-step guide to weatherstripping your windows, take a page from This Old House!
