Finger Lakes State Park hosts annual Youth Fishing Day and public meeting May 18
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 3, 2019 – Come to Finger Lakes State Park from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 18, for their 7th Annual Youth Fishing Day. Bring the kids out for a day of fishing on the banks of Peabody Lake. Participants will learn basic fishing skills and children 12 and under can compete to receive prizes for biggest fish, most fish and first fish caught. Fishing poles and bait will be provided for the first 25 participants who sign up in advance.
At 11 a.m., the public is invited to share comments about the state park and its operations during an informational meeting. Park staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create two-way communication with the public. The meetings give staff the opportunity to let people know the current status and future plans for the parks and historic sites and offer visitors the opportunity to comment on their facilities.
Finger Lakes State Park is located at 1505 E. Peabody Road, Columbia. For more information about the Youth Fishing Day or about other events at the park, call 573-443-5315.
