First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site hosts Historical Children’s Festival May 18 and 19

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 3, 2019 – Come help celebrate the city of St. Charles and National Kids to Parks Day where children of all ages can live, learn and play as children did in the 1820s at the Historical Children’s Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 18 at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site in St. Charles. The event is free and open to the public.

During the event, children may pick up an event passport and participate in hands-on activities to earn prizes. The more stamps in their passport, the more prizes they can earn on their journey through the 1820s. Activities will include butter churning, quill pen writing, washboard and tub, 1820s children’s games and toys, period skills demonstrations, music and crafts. Interpreters dressed in period clothing will explain statehood and other topics.

The First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site is located at 200 S. Main St., St. Charles. For more information about the event, call the site at 636-940-3322.
