Cuivre River State Park celebrates Year of the Bird with special event Sept. 8

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 29, 2018 – Cuivre River State Park invites the public to help celebrate the Year of the Bird with a program by the World Bird Sanctuary 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the park’s Camp Sherwood. The World Bird Sanctuary's Raptor Awareness program features live birds of prey including falcons, hawks, owls, vultures and a bald eagle. Participants will get a close-up view of some of the birds as their keepers allow them to soar right over the audience. The event is free and open to the public.

Directional special event signs will be placed in the park to direct visitors to Camp Sherwood.

Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on during this outdoor event; everyone must remain seated during the presentation. Participants are also encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, and insect repellent is also recommended.
