Guided bison and wildflower hikes at Prairie State Park in July

Guests can explore all the prairie has to offer during the guided bison hike and wildflower walk at Prairie State Park. The guided bison hike will be Saturday, July 2 and the wildflower walk will be Saturday, July 16. Both events will start at 10 a.m. at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.

With summer in full swing, wildflowers and bison abound the prairie. Guests can enjoy taking pictures of the wildlife, while learning more about the prairie’s ecosystem during these hikes. Hikers should be prepared for a two-mile hike over uneven terrain. Bring water, snacks, insect repellent, a hat and sunscreen. Wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars and a camera are useful for viewing the bison and capturing the images of the day.
