Learn about amphibians and reptiles during Prairie State Park's annual Hug a Herp Day June 23

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 14, 2018 – Prairie State Park will host its eighth annual Hug a Herp Day
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the park. The public is invited to see and learn about a wide range of live reptiles and amphibians like snakes, turtles, frogs, toads and salamanders.

This event will help dispel myths and rumors about reptiles and amphibians. Participants will watch a movie titled "The Snakes Tale" throughout the day. It will also give people a chance to see and touch some of the animals up close and make an amphibian or reptile craft to take home.

Prairie State Park is located at 128 NW 150th Lane, Mindenmines. For additional information about this event, please contact Prairie State Park at 417-843-6711, or by calling the department toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
