The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Summer Professional Development Program (SPDP).

The Summer Professional Development Program is designed to provide college students or recent graduates with real-life experience working alongside the Department’s engineers, scientists, natural resource managers and other professionals. There are paid and unpaid opportunities. Most majors will be considered with special consideration given to: Agriculture, Architecture, Atmospheric Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Historic Preservation, History, Interpretation, Landscaping, Museum Studies, Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, Tourism, Accounting, Business Administration, and Human Resources.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources protects our air, land, water, and mineral resources; preserves our unique natural and historic places; and provides recreational and learning opportunities, while promoting the environmentally sound operations of businesses, communities, agriculture, and industry for the benefit of all Missourians. The department's mission requires a diverse workforce statewide and includes 91 state parks and historic sites throughout Missouri.Opportunities with the Summer Professional Development Program exist statewide. Candidates can apply to any or all of the following programs with opportunities: Division of Environmental Quality, Missouri State Parks, Division of Administrative Support and Missouri Geological Survey.

For consideration, please download and complete the application. A signed application and supporting documentation (resume, unofficial copy of transcripts and letter of recommendation) should be uploaded via the form below (scroll to the bottom of the page). Candidates must ensure applications are saved with all data before uploading them. We frequently receive blank applications and must contact candidates to request properly completed applications. Candidates need only submit one application and applicable materials, even if applying for multiple positions.Position numbers must be indicated in the appropriate location on the application. Applications that do not list individual position numbers will be returned to the candidate.

Please DO NOT provide any personal or sensitive information when filling out the application, such as a social security number, credit card or account numbers, health information, etc. Candidates should redact any of this information from their attachments as well.

Letters of recommendation may either be uploaded with the candidate’s application (via form below) or emailed to DNR.Recruiter@dnr.mo.gov. Authors of said letters should be instructed to list the candidate’s name and “SPDP applicant” in the subject line of the email.

As positions are filled, vacancy status information will be updated. Candidates should make note of position numbers they have applied for and check back often for hiring updates. Notifications will be made to all successful candidates no later than May 17, 2019.

Deadlines

The application deadline is March 15, 2019. All applications received by the early bird deadline of December 28, 2018 will be forwarded to hiring supervisors for immediate review. Supervisors may choose to fill their positions at this time or wait and consider additional applications that come in by the final March 15th deadline. All notifications of placement will be made no later than May 17, 2019.
