Chemical Laboratory Certification
Under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, public drinking water compliance testing must be performed by certified laboratories. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, with delegation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, certifies laboratories performing compliance testing of public drinking water for the state of Missouri.
The department limits laboratory certification to only those methods approved for the analysis of primary drinking water chemical contaminants listed in regulation. The department will issue certifications for three-year periods. Three-year certifications will be contingent on the laboratory's continued responsibility to provide annual proficiency testing results and a current certificate from its primary certification authority.
