Fifth graders across Missouri are encouraged to participate in the yearly Earth Day slogan contest, hosted by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Students, put on your thinking caps and create a slogan about any aspect of Earth Day.

The slogan winner will be featured on our website and social media. The winner will receive a $50 gift card donated by Central Bank in Jefferson City and a Missouri Rock and Mineral set donated by the Missouri Geological Survey and of course, bragging rights. The teacher of the winning student will also receive a special gift. We look forward to receiving your slogan entries and are excited to celebrate this event with you!

2022 Contest Winner

Typically, the slogan winner and teacher are announced and prizes awarded during the annual Earth Day celebration in Jefferson City, however, this year’s event was cancelled due to uncertainties surrounding COVID-19.

Mahamud Mahamud, a student at Kansas City International Academy, is the 2022 slogan contest winner with the slogan, "May the forest be with you." Mahamud was among more than 700 Missouri fifth graders who entered the 2022 slogan contest.

As the slogan contest winner, Mahamud will receive a special Earth Day proclamation signed by Governor Mike Parson, a $50 gift card donated by Central Bank in Jefferson City and a rock and mineral set from the Missouri Geological Survey. Mahamud’s teacher, Joe Krohn, will also receive a special award.

Congratulations to Muhamud and Joe and thanks to everyone for entering!
